Garage Sale Fundraiser

Dear Friends

Thank you so much for participating in the garage sale taking place on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church located at 3926 Old Denton in Carrollton from 8am until 2pm. We will begin setting up the sale at 5am and will need volunteers to help with set up, the sale itself, and clean-up. I am arranging an organization to pick up whatever is leftover but there will still be tables to return and other things to do.

I have received several questions related to the donations, so hopefully this email will answer those questions. I will include my contact information in case you have any other questions, concerns, or feedback.

  • A pricing sheet is available to help you price your donations: Wind Symphony Garage Sale Pricing Guidelines. Please make sure the items are as clean as possible and clothing is not "stuffed" into bags. The better the presentation, the more our organization will benefit from the sale. It would be very much appreciated if pre-sorting according to categories is done before donating!
  • Please price items with clearly marked prices with something that will adhere well to the item such as labels or masking tape. The colored dot labels work nicely and there are specific garage sale pre-priced labels at office stores. If you absolutely don't have the time to price, please still donate!! We will take care of it.
  • We have tax deductible receipts to give any donors, just ask!
  • We can begin to accept donations for storage beginning Monday, July 26 by appointment only. The drop off location will be at Aldersgate where they have graciously allowed us to store items in one of their classrooms.
  • We will also be selling cold drinks (bottled water, soda), packaged candy, and maybe donuts. WE WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS OF BOTTLED WATER WHEN YOU BRING YOUR GARAGE SALE ITEMS! (Percussion is also selling salsa!)
  • We are also asking to borrow pop up tents or canopies for use during the sale. If you are able to do this, please let Susan know.
  • If you are able to volunteer, please let Susan know! The Wind Symphony will be rehearsing from 8-12 but hopefully, the students will come to help before and after the rehearsal.

Thanks again for your participation and feel free to share this info with your friends, family, and neighbors so that we can make lots of money for the trip to the Midwest Clinic!

Marching Season DVDs Available

The all-volunteer staff has worked hard on the 2009 marching season DVD production. This year we have a two disc set including the full band show Inner Dialogue, the percussion show Saddle Up and a few extras. These DVDs are the most ambitious yet, mixing video from about 18 performances, contributed by 11 band parents. You’ll be able to watch performances from more angles than ever – from the press box, from the visitor side and from field level close-ups, often with different camera angles on the screen at the same time.
